The Sickle Cell Disease Association of West Alabama serves as an Advocacy Service Agency. These services include but are not limited to: Disseminating SCD/SCT information, attending Health Fairs, and participating and/or host local Advocacy Events.
The West Alabama Sickle Cell Association seeks to improve the health and status of persons affected or at risk of sickle cell disease and related hemoglobinopathies within West Alabama through seven broad categories of service; 1) public and professional health education, 2) screening for detection, 3) medical referrals, 4) genetic counseling, 5) psychosocial supportive services, 6) pediatric sickle cell clinics.
