Calvanay Nunley is a sickle cell warrior. She encountered a major sickle cell crisis for the first time and was diagnosed with sickle cell disease when she was in fifth grade. She is a very courageous girl with strong will power and wants to be a nurse by profession.

She also runs a mentorship/support group for adolescents (age 15-18) with sickle cell disease known as “A walk in my shoes” where all faces different challenges living with sickle cell disease but strive for success, encourage healthy living and education , promote self advocacy raise awareness for sickle cell community.
