University of Cincinnati Medical Center Adult Sickle Cell Center understands that children who grow up with the hereditary blood disorder sickle cell disease won’t outgrow it. They help children and young adults make the transition to adult care. They also continue to provide comprehensive care, as well as care for secondary conditions related to sickle cell disease as patients become older.
The highly-trained specialists who provide care at the Adult Sickle Cell Center are faculty members of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Donald Rucknagel, MD, PhD and George Atweh, MD, are at the core of the sickle cell disease care team and have combined treatment experience of over 70 years.
