Located in Augusta, Georgia, Augusta University is a public research university and medical center dedicated to training the next generation of innovators, leaders and health care providers. The Augusta University Sickle Cell Center, established in 1972, is a comprehensive internationally recognized center for sickle cell treatment and research. The center incorporates the work of Augusta University faculty from medicine, pediatrics, hematology/oncology, allied health, anesthesia and perioperative medicine, biostatistics and epidemiology, molecular biology, and other specialties. This multidisciplinary approach creates a dynamic synergy that places the center in the forefront of patient care, research, and education.
