The Sickle Strong Initiative is an organization whose aim is to raise awareness around sickle cell disease, its control and management. The organisation also seeks to decrease the stigma around patients suffering the disease and help create a positive attitude among these patients. The organization seeks to do this by helping and advocating for patients suffering with the disease through their engagement with governments and all stakeholders in the decision making processes as regards the care of this vulnerable group.
Mission:
-Raise awareness around the management, control, treatment, and healthy/positive living with sickle cell disease.
-Counsel and provide support groups for patients suffering from Sickle cell disease, their immediate family and support systems.
-Provide chemo prophylactic and financial solutions for patients suffering Sickle cell disease who cannot afford treatment and show need of assistance.
-Assess and meet the needs of medical personnel who treat and care for patients suffering sickle cell disease.
