Sickle Cell Association of Richmond – OSCAR is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) community-based program providing services free of charge to Sickle Cell patients and their families. Its aim is to encourage patients to share experiences about what works for each individual in terms of diet, medication, pain management, pain partners, stress management and the psycho-social aspects of having Sickle Cell Diseases to gain feelings of empowerment and to dispel the Sickle Cell Myths.
The organization provides services to residents in the counties of Amelia, Charles City, Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and the cities of Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Petersburg and Richmond.
The goal is to encourage patients to share experiences about what works for each individual in terms of diet, medication, pain management, pain partners, stress management and the psycho-social aspects of having Sickle Cell Diseases to gain feelings of empowerment and to dispel the Sickle Cell Myths.
