2017 Indiana Sickle Cell Conference: The Road to Better Care


This one day Sickle Cell Disease conference will provide information about current trends in the field and available resources for healthcare providers, patients, family members, care givers, and social services providers. The morning session is devoted to healthcare providers with CME credit available. The afternoon session is tailored for patients, family members and social service providers and is not eligible for CME credit.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Recognize recommended protocols for treating adult Sickle Cell patients in pain crisis episodes and be able to apply them for improved patient outcomes.
Identify recommended protocols for treating pediatric Sickle Cell patients in pain crisis episodes and be able to apply them for improved patient outcomes.
Describe indications where red blood cell exchange may be preferable to transfusion and be able to apply that knowledge for improved patient outcomes.
Discuss options for curative procedures that have recently become available and apply that knowledge for improved patient outcomes.
